Saying 9: The Sower
A sower scatters seed: some falls on the road, some on rock, some among thorns, and some on good soil that bears sixty and a hundred and twenty times over.
Commentary
Thomas gives the parable without the allegorical interpretation that follows it in all three synoptics. Many scholars read the bare version as the older form, with the explanations a later churchly addition.
