Saying 77: Split a Piece of Wood
I am the light over all things; I am the All. Everything came out from me and everything reaches me. Split a piece of wood and I am there; lift up a stone and you will find me there.
Commentary
The most pantheistic saying in the collection, and one of the most beautiful. In the Greek fragment the wood-and-stone lines are attached to saying 30 instead, so the boundary between the two sayings is not stable.
