Saying 27: Fasting From the World
If you do not fast from the world you will not find the kingdom; if you do not keep the sabbath as a sabbath you will not see the Father.
Commentary
The Greek fragment preserves this saying too. “Keeping the sabbath as a sabbath” is probably not about the seventh day at all but about making the whole of life a rest — an inward observance replacing an outward one.
