Saying 22: Making the Two Into One

Gospel of Thomas Saying 22 Mark 10:15; Galatians 3:28

Nursing infants are like those who enter the kingdom. When you make the two one, the inside like the outside, the male and female a single one, an eye in place of an eye and an image in place of an image, then you will enter.

Commentary

The programmatic saying of the whole collection. Entry to the kingdom is the undoing of every division — inner and outer, upper and lower, male and female — a return to the undivided state before the split described in saying 11.
